I found my lost love….

Life would be so much easier if we had some magical button that could alter the past. We all have so much to change; we got hearts full of regrets for doing something stupid or for not doing the right thing. But life does not work that way or does it? Well, well, well let me surprise you, ALLAH sometimes does give us the chance to amend our mistakes. At least, I got it, and here is the story of it.

Let’s go back to my childhood as I got so much time to waste on writing. So, let’s continue, he was a child roughly 7 years old who lived in a city. A city that was not so developed but was better than the countryside in terms of facilities and infrastructure. There were many opportunities for entertainment that kids love to have. Video games shops, TV-Cable networks and all such stuff were available there. Remember, this was the time when mobile phones were not available and these things were the only source of entertainment. He was pretty happy in his life. One day, his family told him about their migration to the village permanently. He had a vague idea about what village life is and how it would affect him.

He shifted to a village only to find out that all his sources of entertainment were lost and he has to live a life without such stuff. ( If there was any option, I would have put that sad sound here which demonstrates some trauma). A new life was awaiting there with its own beauty but that stubborn child was only focusing on what he had to leave. While missing what was snatched from him, he turned a blind eye to the blessings that were awaiting there for him. In all this, he never was able to see the beauty that village has to offer.

He grew up without realizing what he had to cherish. And then the time came when he had to go to a large city to pursue higher education. He went there to get amazed by the modern life, hotels, lights, hustle and bustle, and everything that the village lacks. The time that he spent there made him happy for a while but a constant yearning for the village arouse in his heart. Over the years, he secretly turned from a city dweller into a countryman. The city was unable to nourish his soul. After all, urban life, which is full of complexities, is not meant to make you at peace. There is a reason why a great Sociologist Ibn-e-Khaldun rates rural life much higher than urban one. The human race started its journey on earth by living in jungles in tribes. Urban civilization came so long after that. We got it in our genetics to be in love with the simplicity of villages. It makes complete sense why he would feel utterly happy when he visited his homeland. He found the love for the village that was lost due to his ignorance.

The distance and the feeling of deprivation made him realize what he truly wants. Sometimes, it is the darkness that makes us able to see the true value of light. It is the thirst that helps to realize the importance of water. It is the war that opens our eyes to the blessing of living in a peaceful land. In his case, it was the urban life that made him fall in love with his village. The fields, the breeze, the clean atmosphere, the greenery of trees, the organic food, the domesticated animals doing daily chores for the people, the walks in solitary paths, the absence of ostentation, and the simplicity were all he needed to be happy. And the village gave him all. He now lives joyfully there and never thinks about what the city has to offer him.

This is my story, and this is your story too. We all have something in our lives that we do not value until it is snatched from us. Village life was in my case, it could be something else in yours. Sometimes, life is cruel and it does not give us chances to make up for our stupidity. So, don’t be stupid and open your eyes. If Allah takes anything from you, He returns much better than that. Trust the process of your life, trust the plans of your creator and embrace what you have. And believe me, this is the only way to deal with the mess called life.

Thank you for reading my midnight thoughts. If you liked them, appreciate me okay? I want dopamine to rush in my brain and make me feel like an intellectual (which actually I am not) Haha. Stay blessed.
